What is FOSO?
FOSO
The members of Faculty Social Sciences Consultative Committee represent all students at the Faculty of Social Sciences. In a nutshell, FOSO seeks to reduce the distance between faculty and students by striving for optimal and quality education. To achieve this, we ensure that they are represented on numerous councils at all levels within our university. For example, we co-manage the faculty in the Faculty Board and co-decide on the policy plans in the Faculty Council.
Permanent Education Committee (POC)
Students are also represented in the Permanent Education Committees (POCs), which exist for each program within the Faculty of Social Sciences. In these consultative bodies, professors, students, staff and assistants discuss topics such as course content, course structure, exam results and new courses. The program director chairs the POC and carries out the decisions.
There is also an overarching POC Social Sciences in which faculty education policy is discussed. Herein meet the program directors, student representatives, and the person in charge of the Study Lab and student administration. The vice dean of education leads this POC which deals with topics such as the education and examination regulations, AI policy and master's thesis regulations.
Stura: General Assembly
The final and most general form of representation is found at the Stura General Assembly. Here, issues that affect the policies of the entire university are discussed biweekly. FOSO also represents the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences here. Some topics that are discussed here are lecture recordings, the reform of the academic year and rules around study progress.
Talking Point Education
Of course we are always curious about what is going on with our students. That's why we organize an Education Talking Point twice a semester. Be sure to stop by and get a snack or a drink in exchange for your input. We will then take your comments and concerns to the appropriate bodies.
